Getting rid of it! I think it's time. Don't you?

I wasn't always fat, and I'm not going to always be either.

Together again

Hey, guys, I know it's been a long long time since I've blogged. Sorry! As some of you may have read earlier this year I lost my mom in March after a major surgery. It was very unexpected and I was and still am at times devastated. Fast forward to October of this year and I suddenly lost my dad too. I don't know why God gives us such blows at times, but I do have a peace about it all. I know my Dad was so tired, depressed, and missing mama so much and they are now together again. I'm thankful he accepted Christ this past summer. :) I miss my mom daily, she was the family rock. I gained a bit of weight after her death that I have since gotten back off with His help.

I'm still doing the FIRM for the majority of my workouts. I occasionally walk or hike. I've also been challenging myself to REALLY limit the sugar intake. It makes such a difference in my physique! I'm back to lifting heavy again as well. It really leans me out and I'm still working on getting that "job" done. :)

If you're struggling out there remember U turns are ALWAYS allowed! You too can do what I've done. You can keep it off and You CAN feel good! You don't have to "do it' perfectly. I sometimes take the scenic route, sometimes the expressway. :) I've been at this since 2003 when I joined WWer's and started the FIRM during that summer. You can be results not typical!!! Get determined, put the excuses aside, and fight for your health and fitness!

hi, i had read about you a few years back and was so impressed with your weight loss pictures, you were an inspiration and i had lost 30lbs but gained it all back due to stress :( (lots of work running 2 businesses, which will soon become only 1 business because my blood pressure is sky high!) searching again came across your site and so i joined you on here. it saddens me very much to read your post of the loss of your parents, that is too much to go through for anyone. i lost my dad in 2006 and my mom is now 80 and i know that everyday with her now is a blessing. i am so glad you've been able to keep off the weight you look beautiful. i will check in periodically now as i am again trying to lose weight, may the new year keep you and your beautiful family in good health always with lots of love. happy to have found your website again!

Thank you, Mandy, prayer is a powerful thing. I have REALLY felt the Lord's comfort this year, and I know it's because of prayer and Him that I've been able to get through all this. I don't know what people without the Lord do.

Hey, Carla, So sorry to hear of your parent's passing. Words don't quite seem like enough, and I'll be keeping you in my prayers.

I surely needed to read this. Even after losing 50 lbs i'm having a bit of a fight keeping to my goal weight. I get upset with a 2 lb gain. I need to refocus and make that U-turn. Hi Carla, I've missed you ladies!!!!

Carla, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom and Dad. Prayers and hugs to you. Life is just plain hard at times. I'm just hoping for the best and taking one day at a time. I know the Good Lord will always help me through. Whether it's the scenice route or the expressway....let's just hope it's bump free. ;)

Hi Carla - I lost my mom nearly 10 years ago, and yesterday was the anniversary of my dad's death 8 yrs ago. they were married for 62 yrs. I know the heartbreak you are feeling now. I miss both of them terribly.
It's good you are back to doing the workouts and eating right, as you must take care of yourself. You are still here, and you are needed for your family. Your mom and dad are with the Lord, and for that you can rejoice. He has you here for a purpose, so live knowing He holds each day of your life in His hands.

I fully believe that too!!! My dad went downhill FAST after mama died. He was never the same. I can only imagine what it feels like to lose someone that you've been married to over 50 years.

Carla - So sorry for the loss of your parents in a short time period. One of my daughter's believes that people do die of a broken heart :-(

Thank you for continuing to be a positive role model!
